Intel promotes graphics to the yoof of today

INTEL is sponsoring bands in London clubs, focusing on graphics – writes Tamlin Magee.

When my pal Steph, sometimes drummer for up-and-coming and criminally underrated band Theoretical Girl, – herein  http://www.myspace.com/iamtheoreticalgirl], offered to stick me on the guestlist for last Saturday’s show in Camden I leaped at the idea, and indeed, onto the tube and into the venue.

Hold on though, what’s this? ? A flyer, yes, but peer a little closer and you’ll notice none other than Intel has its paws in the tight-jeaned pockets of the Camden muic scene.

This came as a bit of a shock, Intel not being one of those yoof-friendly fashion brands, unlike, say, Apple.

What’s Intel got to do with it, then, as Tina Turner once famously sang? I’ve tried calling about but to no avail, so let’s have a guess shall we? Bands playing the event – also playing were Kids Love Lies  and Scanners  – sported a fancy backdrop with their names floating around. We reckon that Intel is responsible for the graphics with all the charm of, er… Intel. We contacted Intel and the promoters for a comment. None was forthcoming.
