Interesting. If one would imagine themselves embarking on a Pradakshina Parakrama of the Linga, they would be in a space similar to the configuration of the Kaa’Ba within the Al-Masjid al-Haram. There is even the Zam-Zam Well to supply the the water to be dripped on the Sivalingam. But the proportions are all wrong.
Still, the bibbl has it that if you want to keep getting water out of the rock, you’re to speak to it softly and carry a big stick.
My initial impression was that the Shiva Lingam was a sort of hitch-receiver system.
